After reading the letter “Republicans don’t improve lives” (Dec. 19, TribLIVE), in which the writer states that “Democrats are committed to actually helping Americans in every way,” I was thrown into a state of profound bewilderment.

How have the Democrats improved upon anything?

By leaving American citizens and in-country allies to fend for themselves in Afghanistan? By leaving billions of dollars worth of military hardware in enemy hands in the same disastrous retreat?

By leaving our southern border unsecure? Who is crossing?

By pursuing mindless economic policies that have us on the precipice of economic collapse?

By starting an actual shooting war in Ukraine?

By pushing the idiot notion that it would be better for the world to freeze to death as opposed to continuing to rely on fossil fuels?

By trading a Russian arms dealer — one with the moniker “merchant of death” — for a female basketball player?
