Letter to the editor: How would we deal with extraterrestrials?

Tribune-Review

As I read through all the ideas as to how best to be prepared for the next catastrophe, I note that all the suggestions being made are excellent and, if adopted, will certainly have a marked influence on how effective our efforts will be no matter which one of the types of catastrophes we have faced in the past.

However, suppose the nature of the beast is totally different from those problems we have dealt with so far. “Well,” you might say, “we will just have to modify our approach to address the case in point.”

OK, but what if the “case in point” involves factors that are totally new to the situation ? Like what? Well, as a for instance, let’s suppose we are dealing with extraterrestrials who want us to submit to their plan for the future use of our home planet, Earth? And what if the “Majestic 12” Americans have already agreed to the plan? And what if a large component of humans on Earth and of different nationalities have ideas different from what the dozen Americans had?

Far-fetched? I think not. And apparently neither did the Majestic 12. It is a situation that deserves exposure to the American public, before it is a choice they may face cold turkey from a government who thought we couldn’t handle flying objects that defied our perceived laws of gravity.
