The Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s decision to remove human remains from public display is a step toward a future of peace in our world.

The basis of all human culture is the primacy of human life; not just human life in present times or in technologically advanced societies, but all human life.

Doctors and scientists who examine human remains do so with respect for human life, to add to knowledge and improve people’s lives.

But human remains from anywhere and any time are not appropriate for entertainment or to satisfy casual curiosity; they are the sacred relics of someone’s ancestor or ethnic group. To treat them with respect is to treat all humans with respect.
