Letter to the editor: Hunting's opening day
The Pennsylvania Game Commission wants to change the first day of deer season from Monday to Saturday after Thanksgiving (“No guarantees around opening day and hunting participation,” March 30, TribLIVE). That’s all well and good, except they don’t seem to have taken into consideration how many families get together on Thanksgiving weekend.
The other factor I don’t think they have considered is people in the woods moving deer, which could cause more deer-involved accidents on a busy travel weekend.
I have been told if you can’t go Saturday, then go Monday. That’s fine again, except then I will be in the woods by myself.
Last but not least is that if mother is not happy, then no one is happy. Leave well enough alone, game commission.
