Letter to the editor: I condemn officers that do wrong, but still support our police

Tribune-Review

Enough is enough already. Admittedly, the police officer(s) in Minneapolis committed a heinous, grievous criminal act in the killing of George Floyd. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior from any of our law enforcement officers. And there are other racist police officers who need to be removed, retrained or arrested. That being said, I still stand by and support our police.

But demonstration after demonstration. And the demands are getting so outrageous, like defunding police departments, removing statues, changing names to suit the flavor of the day and requiring students to all learn African American studies.

When Blacks kill Blacks, either one on one or en masse, where are you, Jesse Jackson? Where are you, Al Sharpton? Where are you, Oprah Winfrey? Where are you, Barack and Michelle Obama? When little Black children get killed by drive-by shootings, where are all of you? Where’s the rage, the outrage, the demonstrators, the fires and the looting?

Black Lives Matter? All life matters. Police lives matter. Thank God for the police.
