Letter to the editor: If Wolf thinks we’re smart, why was Pa. shut down?

I found Gov. Tom Wolf’s comment in the article “Judge denies Gov. Wolf’s attempt to stop covid restriction ruling” (Sept. 22, TribLIVE) incredible: “… the people of Pennsylvania have shown they don’t want to get this disease and they’re going to do things like wearing a mask, they’re going to do things like practicing social distancing and staying away from crowds.”

One might legitimately ask: If he actually believes that we are intelligent enough to make those choices about our own safety, then why did he shut down the economy by closing all of those small businesses and restaurants?
