Letter to the editor: Importance of local elections

With all the attention that is given to the presidential election every four years, we seem to forget about the importance of the local and state elections. These elections provide us with representation in Harrisburg. The decisions made in Harrisburg affect our lives on a daily basis. There is no better example of this than what is going on with the current covid-19 crisis.

I would like to take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication of my local state representative, Natalie Mihalek, who represents the 40th District (Bethel Park, Upper St. Clair, Peters Township). Mihalek has hit the ground running in her first term to put forward legislation that will help the people in her district. Since the beginning of the covid-19 crisis, she has shown leadership and has been an effective voice for small business owners.

I would encourage voters in the 40th District to give her your vote in November. In a world that is rife with partisan politics, it is nice to know there is someone working for us.
