Letter to the editor: Incompetent Pa. leaders

Tribune-Review

It is said “everyone eventually reaches their level of incompetency in their occupation.” Some of our state representatives have reached that level. They’re like a group of kids that can’t seem to get their act together, holding Pennsylvanians hostage over budget issues. They have no idea how difficult it is trying to hold together human services, organizations and child care facilities without state funding. Every one is struggling to stay afloat for the past months, hoping to keep the doors open.

Every year, there are issues with the budget. They just don’t seem to care while they continue to get their pay no matter what — pay that is increased each year if it’s not voted down. Salaries rose to more than $106,000 in December for the next 12 months. No balanced budget signed, and it’s October. And now the state is offering to lend counties their own money and charge them 4.5% interest to be paid back to the state.

If this was an election year, the budget would probably have been passed and signed. When the election comes around next year, there will be a rude awakening for representatives when we go to the polls.
