Educate yourself.
Coronavirus? The New England Journal of Medicine’s website has free magazine emails plus a free covid-19 section. Johns Hopkins University offers a coronavirus resource center.
Want real news? The Wall Street Journal’s subscribers don’t put up with wrong information — too much money riding on it. Some articles are available online, and most libraries subscribe and keep the back issues.. Share a subscription.
That TV graphic about covid-19 numbers? Check populations: U.S., 330 million, Spain 47 million, France 67 million. U.S. figures would look pretty good if not for New York. Per the Wall Street Journal: “one of the highest death rates of any region in the entire world.” New York’s shutdown: mid-March, long after criticism of the China air-travel restrictions.
Look at news sources. Trib article on Russian collusion? Bloomberg News. Yep, that guy. WSJ: FBI agents altered documents, based all on a discredited guy Hillary Clinton’s campaign paid. That’s what’s criminal.
The WSJ is watching dozens of vaccine candidates of different types — some expected in actual use in October. Prudent to be ready to roll ahead of time.
Love green ideals? Consider “green” dishwashers. They spawned those TV ads for detergent pods used to avoid wasting gallons of water pre-washing. But those pods are usable only with the “city water” of major cities. (Check with repairmen and online.) Low-flow toilets. Wind farms that slice so many birds and bats they have waivers so they don’t have to report them; any other industry would be shut down. Google Solyndra.
Informed decisions: great idea.
