Letter to the editor: Jan. 6 enough reason not to elect Trump

Tribune-Review

If there is but one reason for not voting for Donald Trump, it is Jan. 6, when Trump instigated the insurrection on our nation’s Capitol. What American who watched was not horrified? I think this was the one event that Trump believed would keep him in power, thwarting the will of the people.

Fundamental to our democracy’s existence is the willingness of the losing candidate to accept his/her loss. But Trump continues to undermine our democracy by spreading the big lie that the election was stolen, all without an ounce of proof. Jan. 6 was an attempted coup. What he couldn’t achieve then, I assume he plans to accomplish now.

If Trump is elected, we and the world will be endangered. I predict Russia will have Ukraine, China will take Taiwan and NATO will no longer exist, allowing Russia to have its way with Europe. If the plans in Project 2025 are implemented, millions of immigrants will be deported; Jan. 6 insurrectionists freed; tariffs costing us millions raised; constitutional liberties suspended; birth control restricted; and women’s pregnancies monitored, the epitome of government intrusiveness.

True patriots will not vote for a man determined to be a dictator who would destroy our cherished constitutional rights. Before voting, remember Jan. 6, Trump’s attempted coup, that day of infamy. For this alone, he cannot be forgiven or elected!
