Lori Falce wrote an excellent column on the Jennifer Crumbley verdict in the 2021 Oxford High School shooting (“Crumbley verdict and respect for guns,” Feb. 9, TribLive). Some feel the charge of involuntary manslaughter is too severe. However, four students died due to the lack of “plain and simple” parental supervision and care.

Falce believes the charge of child abuse was missed, and, in my opinion, “neglect” as well. Ethan, the shooter, wrote “the thoughts won’t stop. Help me. My life is useless.” The parents refused to take him home.

Neglect! Loud and clear! The verdict is correct.
