Letter to the editor: Jesus' advice on the Epstein scandal
Am I the only atheist who gets upset from time to time and turns to Jesus? It’s not the kind of subject one shares too quickly with strangers, like I’m doing now. It happens sometimes, and it makes me feel less than genuine in quoting Jesus Christ. Maybe it’s out of line to say “Let the dead bury the dead.”
Jeffrey Epstein’s dead, Ghislane Maxwell is in durance vile. The famous lawyer in the mix is still his free and not-so-handsome self. A number of gorgeous celebrities have been named as guests on pedo island, and they are nervously enjoying freedom. Or maybe shaking in their Manolo Blahniks. Hope so. Other huge VIPs, who knows who, are believed to be hopping about at risk of exposure and arrest.
Needless to say, society adjudicates criminals, and the public has a right to be informed and able to access justice. Conversely, that thing Jesus said may be relevant. If there is no way of releasing records and prosecuting the criminals involved in that huge scandal, and it appears the super-rich are able to obstruct and evade justice, Jesus would be correct in telling minions to forget what happened and go forward. There are other fish to fry. Other criminals to chase. At this point, the situation is a waste of money.
