Letter-writer George A. West (“Trump is no savior,” Oct. 13, TribLIVE) can’t see the forest for the trees. Jesus Christ was no Mister Rogers. Perhaps West should spent some time reading scripture.

Jesus was a firebrand, a rabble rouser, a rebel; some might even call him a malcontent of his time. Jesus railed against the swamp. He called the political elite of his time vile, hypocrites and serpents. Jesus never had a good word for the Scribes and Pharisees that controlled the swamp. Probably called them much worse, but his language was censured for purposes of the Bible.

Jesus was rejected by many because of his criticism of the powerful elite. Eventually his enemies were able to fabricate enough evidence (false allegations) against him in order to have him cruciified. Sound familiar?
