Letter to the editor: Keeping kids first in Norwin

Tribune-Review

Dear Norwin community,

I am a proud parent and school board member of the Norwin School District. As a current school director, I want to take the opportunity to ensure this continues. Ultimately, we are in the kid business, and we must elect board members who are student centered.

These candidates are Robert Bunovich, Brian Carlton, Carrie McConell Muniz and Dana Barvinchak Williams. Voting for them is prioritizing the educational welfare of all children in the district. Unfortunately, this election is turning ugly and highly political, and the other slate of candidates, Christine Baverso, Alex Detschelt, Shawna Ilagan and Raymond Kocak, are proposing ideas which are divisive political issues.

School board elections should be based solely on what is best for our schools, the students in them and how the school system improves the community. That should be the onlypriority in voting. Being on a school board is a serious business and comes with immense responsibility to our kids. No one running — or elected — should forget that. This should never be a political battlefield; education is bipartisan.

School board election must be about more than mask mandates and tax issues. This is the education of our kids — the future of the Norwin community. Please invest in our children and community by voting for Bunovich, Carlton, Muniz and Williams. Our students need you!
