On May 16, Westmoreland County Republican voters will select two candidates for county commissioners. Of the five candidates, Sean Kertes and Doug Chew are running for reelection. They have done an excellent job and deserve to be reelected.
As a voter, I ask myself whether Westmoreland County has continued to be a great place to live, in terms of crime, taxes, neighborhoods and housing, business development, entertainment, parks and recreation, and overall quality of life. Is Westmoreland County attracting high-quality businesses and people? My answer is a resounding YES!
As a young professional, Kertes was appointed chief of staff by Board of Commissioners Chair Charles Anderson. That experience gave him an excellent understanding of county government, and he was the obvious choice to succeed Anderson for the position of chair.
Chew, a biochemical researcher and faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh, has done a great job in transitioning to the position of county commissioner after his election, and he now serves as vice chair.
Together, Kertes and Chew have advanced Westmoreland County, improving the lives of all of us. Children get a quality, wholesome education, job training facilities are available for the job opportunities of today and tomorrow, and the county has excellent accommodations and health care operations for seniors. Thanks to their leadership, Westmoreland is a great place to live, and it’s getting ever better. They’ve earned our vote.
