Letter to the editor: Klingensmith's experience makes him best pick for judge

Tribune-Review

In response to the letter “Petrush qualified to be judge” (Oct. 18, TribLIVE): I agree that being qualified matters greatly for a magisterial district judge.

The writer mentioned not seeing Judith Petrush’s opponent, Robert Klingensmith, in the courts in Greensburg. If he had looked beyond the courts in Greensburg, he’d find Klingensmith active in magisterial district courts and other courts across the state. It would’ve been wise for him to check with district magistrates who know Klingensmith, including the local incumbent, Charlie Conway.

He mentions that Petrush is “formidable” in the courtroom. As a prosecutor, her goal is to have convictions. Formidable. The court needs a well-balanced person who can look at all sides of a case and apply the law fairly and equally without being “formidable” to the people of the district who are in front of the court.

Klingensmith will bring his broad experience with all aspects of the law to the role, including family law, contract law and criminal experience. He has a long career practicing in these courts and others. Moreover, he will limit close ties with local police to ensure fairness.

A broad set of qualifications, practicing law in the district, a lifelong resident of the district and having a focus on all types of cases that will appear before a district magistrate matter.

Klingensmith is the best fit for the role of magisterial district judge, bringing extensive experience across various legal areas, ensuring fairness, equity and a balanced approach in the court.
