Letter to the editor: Knowing God
I have the impression the writer of the letter “God is a problem, not an answer” (July 29, TribLIVE) has some knowledge of God but does not know God. People can possess knowledge of someone but not know them. It happens every day. It’s through relationships that we can get to know one another. A little knowledge can be dangerous; it can be misleading.
God created man to have a relationship with him. He created man in his image and gave man free will to choose to love him in return. Yes, God knows our choices, but real unconditional love is not forced. Throughout history God attempted to teach and nurture man to love one another and himself. But man is lured by sin and finds it too easy to choose sin over love of God. Like parents who try to teach and nurture their children, sometime the child must be punished. It doesn’t necessarily mean parents don’t love their children.
You want proof of heaven. Jesus said if we follow him, we would have eternal life.
You are free to question and doubt God if it is to seek the truth.
God is wise, kind, patient, forgiving, all-knowing and love.
