Letter to the editor: Kudos to Chew, Kertes for holding Wolf accountable
After reading the article “Westmoreland County gets fewer covid vaccine doses than smaller counties; talks begin about regional health department” (Feb. 26, TribLIVE), I’d like to give a big thank-you to Republican commissioners Doug Chew and Sean Kertes for calling out the Wolf administration on its failure to get vaccines to Westmoreland County in a timely fashion.
This is literally a life-and-death situation for many residents, and the Wolf administration’s lack of competence will inevitably cost lives. It’s absolutely inexcusable that 85% of other counties received more vaccines per capita than Westmoreland. Are we being punished for being a Republican voting county?
Adding insult to injury, the Wolf administration then wrote the constitutional amendment question concerning limiting the governor’s emergency declaration power, which will appear on the ballot this May, in a way that I believe is intended to confuse voters into voting “no,” which would only prolong this lockdown and our misery.
The Wolf administration, just like the Cuomo administration in New York, needs to be held accountable for its disastrous decision making throughout this pandemic.
