I am writing to urge Pennsylvania regulators to take immediate action to rein in methane pollution from oil and gas production. The consequences of unchecked emissions from this industry threaten public health and the future of our planet.

As program manager and data scientist at the Environmental Health Project, I can testify to the amount of methane and other greenhouse gases being released or leaked from oil and gas operations. I can also point to a growing body of research and investigations, which now number in the hundreds, showing higher risks of health impacts occurring along with oil and gas production.

We cannot afford to ignore this pressing issue any longer. Strong regulations are necessary to reduce these emissions and hold the oil and gas industry accountable for its environmental impact.

I call on my fellow residents to advocate for a cleaner, healthier future. We must urge our state officials to prioritize the development and enforcement of regulations that limit pollution from oil and gas production. Together, we can create a sustainable future for Pennsylvania and ensure that our state is a leader in protecting public health and combating climate change.
