For over four years, Trump supporters have insinuated themselves into local, state and federal offices. I’ve seen borough councilors embrace this repugnant “movement” in insolent, arrogant fashion, and be dismissive of rational dialogue.

They claimed patriotism, with outward displays but with no real understanding of its meaning. They demonstrate little inclination to act to serve constituents’ needs without political or financial gain.

We’ve seen state legislators support or join with violent rioters invading our U.S. Capitol. We’ve heard them spout lies about our Pennsylvania elections, seeking to silence our voices.

We’ve seen and heard Republican congresspersons continue to support Trump’s fallacies and outright lies. The cowardice they exhibited in the face of disappointing him was evident to all.

If they were intelligent, they knew it was all continuing lies, but dishonorably sustained those lies. If they didn’t know, then they are unqualified for the job. None of them are worthy.

Every MAGA hat-wearing, Confederate flag-waving, idiot-supporting, anti-civil rightist, racially and religiously bigoted, emotionally bereft, compulsively threatening person should immediately resign from his or her elected or appointed positions. We can do so much better.
