Letter to the editor: Leaving soldiers behind is un-American
Did you see this? Gold Star mother Kelly Barnett, mother of Staff Sgt. Darin Hoover, crying as she testified about his death as he and others were abandoned by President Joe Biden and left to die. The soldiers knew, the families know, their government didn’t care what happened to them. What kind of infuriating BS is that? Those responsible should be charged with irresponsible failure of trust, dereliction of duty and murder.
Young men rise to the call to serve their country and then get left behind to die. I can’t say enough to describe how infuriating and despicable this is to me. I knew that’s what happened, but to hear the families acknowledge their sons and daughters were abandoned by their government and left to die is well beyond any reasonable imagination. Not by my unit. Not by my soldiers. Not by any American patriot. No man left behind. Every soldier, sailor, marine counts on it. We have each others’ back.
What difference does it make, Hillary Clinton? No comment, Joe Biden? I know nothing, I see nothing, I care nothing, entire chain of command? Shame on all those who could have done something. This did not have to happen. This is not acceptable. This is not American, damn it!
Every member of Congress for the foreseeable future should be forced to watch the taped interviews with these families.
