I am always curious this time of year. As the calendar leads up to Oct. 31, I see yards, houses and businesses decorated with the images of ghosts, monsters and spooky tombstones. Some displays are elaborate and expensive to construct.

As a veteran, I often wonder if the same effort will be put forth to honor those who served in the military on the legal holiday known as Veterans Day. Based on previous years, I have serious doubts that those same yards, houses and business will display the flag or a sign thanking veterans for their service and sacrifice.

Veterans Day is on Monday, Nov. 11. Displaying the red, white and blue on Veterans Day is noticed and appreciated by those of us who served.
