New state bills are aimed at overturning Roe v. Wade. This is a response to liberals wanting to allow late-term and partial-birth abortions.

No doubt if these bills make it into law they will be heard in the courts. Perhaps it will settle the question on whether a state has the right to enact a law that violates federal law.

There are federal immigration laws that sanctuary cities ignore. The cities are not punished. California may become a sanctuary state.

There are federal laws concerning firearms. Some cities, including Pittsburgh, have enacted stricter gun laws that are counter to the Second Amendment. The federal government does nothing.

Marijuana is an illegal drug under federal law. Some states allow medical marijuana, and Colorado allows recreational marijuana. The federal government does nothing.

Therefore, a state that enacts laws banning certain abortions has the right to enforce its new policy. It should not matter if it violates the Roe v. Wade decision.

Liberals love illegal immigrants, legal marijuana and more gun-control laws. However, they believe no one has the right to restrict their right to abortion. That is unconstitutional. The federal government must not allow that.

They should remember that the Supreme Court now has a conservative lean. Liberals could lose the fight.
