Letter to the editor: Lies, not law and order, define Trump's presidency
President Trump has told over 20,000 documented lies since his inauguration. He repeats many even when there is proof he is lying. He repeats debunked conspiracy theories. Even Jim Jones had followers, so I suppose that explains Trump.
Why would police or military support Trump? His budgets have called for less money for law enforcement, and he has raided the Pentagon for money to build his border wall.
The economy is not roaring back. Jobs are being permanently lost. Trump is trying to destroy Obamacare, which could take away coverage to age 26 for young people on parents’ insurance and eliminate protections for preexisting conditions.
Trump says he is a law and order president. His law and order seems to be for you and me, but not for him and his cronies.
The Mueller report resulted in the indictments of 34 people, including six Trump campaign advisers. Trump accepted help from Russia to win in 2016, according to the recently released bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report. He has pardoned tax cheats, fraudsters, arsonists, campaign finance violators, racketeers, court-order violators and liars.
I believe he is hiding evidence that Russia is interfering to help him in 2020 — his administration is refusing to allow in-person intelligence briefings to Congress and the American people on possible foreign election interference. Trump’s response to covid-19 may be his biggest failure. In my opinion, his lies, negligence, incompetence, irresponsibility and grift have cost us loved ones, jobs, homes, businesses, health care, education — and our reputation in the world and our unity as Americans.
