Letter to the editor: Life begins at conception

Tribune-Review

I have to ask if the writer of the letter “Abortion, choices and free will” (Dec. 4, TribLive) is aware that human life begins at conception. A quick internet search of “When does human life begin” will conclude that when the male sperm fertilizes the woman’s egg, the union creates a human life. This human life creation will go through a process known as gestation (pregnancy) which is normally 280 days, all the while being tenderly cared for and nourished by the mother in her womb.

After the gestation process is completed, the human will be birthed, a process through which the human life will be expelled from the comfort of the mother’s womb and welcomed into the world. During the gestation process, the human in the womb will be completely dependent upon the mother, in essence dependent on the free will of the mother. Unfortunately, because of free will, sometimes circumstances arise where the mother decides to terminate this human life through abortion. The tiny human in her womb has no say in the procedure, does not to get to exercise free will.

A little over 2,000 years ago, a very young woman was found to be pregnant; she was unwed at the time, but she carried the human in her womb to fruition. That child has changed the course of history. Have a most blessed and Merry Christmas.
