Regarding Russell Fenton’s letter “We must keep Trump to keep our freedom”: B-a-a-a-a! I am a proud member of the “Sheep Party.” I am happy that I am intelligent enough to listen to scientists and medical experts.

Perhaps Fenton is a member of the “Lemming Party” that follows President Trump to the edge of the cliff and over. Or is it the “Ostrich Party,” whose members bury their heads in the sand and refuse to face reality?

Nobody likes this pandemic. I believe we would be in a much better situation if we had better leadership, if our president had led from the beginning. Trump was warned well before the situation became serious. Instead, he became an ostrich, and things got deadly. Bars, restaurants and other businesses probably would be near 100% operational.

Statistics show that America has 4% of the world population, yet has about 25% of the world’s covid-19 cases and deaths. Do you think covid-19 is like the flu? The flu has a death rate below 0.1% ; covid-19 has a death rate of 3-4%. This is an improvement, as at one time it was over 5%. Treatments have improved, and not by injecting disinfectant.

Trump recently bragged that he is responsible for sending increased supplies of protective equipment to fight the virus. I’m happy about that, but it’s like painting a house while it’s burning inside.

Don’t be a lemming or an ostrich. Listen to science and medical experts.
