On Jan. 21, The New York Times published an article “What 17 of Trump’s Best People Said About Him.”

These best people served in some of the highest-level positions in the Trump administration. A few excerpts:

William Barr, attorney general: “He is a consummate narcissist, and he constantly engages in reckless conduct that puts his political followers at risk. ... He will always put his own interest and gratifying his own ego ahead of everything else, including the country’s interest.”

John Bolton, national security adviser: “By the time I left the White House I was convinced he was not fit to be president.”

Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: “We don’t take an oath to a king … or a dictator. And we don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator.”

Mark Esper, secretary of Defense: “Trump is a threat to democracy.”

John Kelly, chief of staff: “Trump is a person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution and the rule of law.”

We need to carefully consider these comments made by people who knew Trump best.
