Letter to the editor: Look who’s donating to Patel’s campaign

Bhavini Patel must have a very low opinion of the intelligence of the primary voters in District 12. It’s disappointing to see AIPAC, MAGA and Hindu nationalists somehow coming together to fund Patel’s campaign. Jeffrey Yass, the MAGA donor and TikTok investor? Mehir Meghani, the California doctor who opposes protections against caste discrimination? Ms. Patel, what are we doing here?

PA-12 deserves to know where and who the money pumping ads into its community is coming from. Patel is running on a platform of Israel, and nothing else. It’s a pathetic attempt to capitalize on the fear our community still faces because our region is not willing to eradicate white supremacy. What tangible legislative results is she striving to achieve? What progress will she bring to our region different than what Summer Lee has already achieved? What will she actually do differently, other than vote to continue to fully fund what the U.N. and WHO are calling genocide? According to her own campaign materials, ZERO.

Friends don’t let allies use Stephen Miller-aligned donations to act like they’re going to protect American religious minorities. That’s just common sense. Patel should return the money and run an honest Democratic campaign rather than bank on the fear of religious people … in 2026 when she’s had some time to grow up.
