Letter to the editor: Maduro’s capture a beginning

Has anyone read the grand jury indictment against Nicolas Maduro? The document is only 25 pages, with the majority being in a non-legalized format. Clearly, based on their arguments, most people have not downloaded a single page.

If anything, the Maduro arrest represents just a beginning, with the need for many more arrests of extremely dangerous drug traffickers. Kudos to Democratic Sen. John Fetterman for being the only Democratic politician in Western Pennsylvania to side, not with President Trump, but with the thousands of dead young people poisoned by the illegal drug trade.

My own congressman, Rep. Chris Deluzio, true to form, demonstrated his depth of ignorance, being unable to distinguish between an arrest based on a grand jury indictment and a military “invasion.” Despite being an attorney and a naval officer, his go-to credentials, he cannot make the distinction. Did he miss the law school class on criminology 101? What about officer’s training with regard to “lawful” rules of engagement? When would have Deluzio expected Maduro to be arrested? On a spring family vacation to Washington, D.C.’s Cherry Blossom Festival? Or on a couples summer Alaskan cruise? Perhaps on weekend winter ski junket to Vail?

The Democratic socialists did nothing with a previous $15 million reward or one for $25 million, but it took a Republican firebrand to finally do something.

So what about that $50 million reward? How about dividing the reward between those heroes who participated in Maduro’s capture?

The Rev. James Holland
