Letter to the editor: MAGA, patriotism and Christianity

Tribune-Review

I am so tired of the MAGA base claiming to be the only “patriots” in this country. Let me ask this question, from the American citizenship exam: What is the supreme law of the land? The Constitution. Yes, that document our Founding Fathers were adamant about — balance of power, basic freedoms, no one above the law. Yet Donald Trump and his cult seem to want to “shred” the Constitution and claim Trump has absolute immunity — that he is above the law. The very antithesis of what this country was founded on. This isn’t patriotism, it is total disregard for America.

I support your right to support Trump — but please don’t say “we the people” are doing it because you are a “patriot.” Patriots love this country, love their fellow American (even if they don’t agree with them!), adhere to the Constitution and respect our flag.

I don’t have enough space to express how MAGAs also think they are the only true Christians in the country. Again, if you want to support Trump, knock yourself out. But don’t say you’re doing it because you are “Christian” — Trump is a serial adulterer/abuser who cheated on his third wife with a porn star, has uttered very un-Christ-like comments, made sexual innuendos about his daughter, has cheated his own employees and contractors, and calls his fellow Americans vile names if they are not MAGA. Now he is selling Trump Bibles and comparing himself to Jesus.

I’ll end with another question: Can you define the word “blasphemous”?
