Letter to the editor: Marxists have succeeded in influencing Western civilization
In the 1940s and early 1950s, Russian communist agents Manning Johnson, Bella Dodd, Whittaker Chambers and Elizabeth Bentley defected and exposed the massive communist undertaking that was formulated in the 1930s, detailing the steps Marxists must take in order to successfully drive their communist agenda in subverting Western civilization. To succeed they must first gain substantial influence on Western culture and civilization.
A multi-pronged attack was launched with a Marxist anti-Christian assault on the Catholic Church and on the American educational system with a method known as “ideological subversion,” combined with gaining influence over movies, music, radio and later television. The communists placed over 1,000 men in Catholic seminaries, according to Dodd, and their ideology was quickly embraced by prestigious “liberal” American universities.
According to Yuri Bezmenov, a Soviet KGB propagandist until his defection in 1970, the main methods used by the Marxists were “to corrupt the young … take them away from religion. Make them superficial and enfeebled … destroy people’s faith in their national leaders by holding the latter up for contempt, ridicule and disgrace … cause breakdown of the old moral virtues: honesty, sobriety, self-restraint and faith in the pledged word.” As a result, modern-day American universities, public education, mainstream media, entertainment and political advocacy groups are dominated by the anti-America left.
In my opinion the Marxists have succeeded. The Marxist organization Black Lives Matter is destroying our cities; 43 million American adults are illiterate; critical reasoning is a thing of the past; our pulpits are filled with biblical illiterates; and amorality is now normal.
