Letter to the editor: Masking the country's bigger problems
I look at people’s eyes above the masks, filled with fear or numbness. What a fine excuse to take a step farther back from having to associate with their fellow human beings.
In the digital world we no longer have to deal with social interaction, which can cause distress because it requires effort. How much easier it is to isolate one’s self if the government mandates that it’s for everyone’s “safety.” And: Whites don’t hate Blacks, Blacks don’t hate whites — until someone ignorant or vengeful teaches them to do so, through evil parenting or just plain non-parenting, and then youths are instructed by social media and their peer groups. Let’s wake up and address the all, too, real, bigger problems in this country.
