Letter to the editor: Media bias can affect how we think, vote

As a professor of political science and economics at UCLA, Tim Groseclose in 2012 published the book “Left Turn,” providing convincing statistical evidence that bias by the political media actually can determine the way people think and vote. He showed that most of our television, radio and print media have a liberal bias that leans heavily to the left. This can distort and pervert American minds to believe “facts” that may not be true. And this left bias can influence the news we consume, the beliefs we hold, the letters to the editor we write and the politicians we vote for.

It is no surprise, then, that the extreme political left is taking over the Democratic Party, preaching the defunding of police, liberalizing of the Constitution, increasing taxes and regulations that reduce our freedoms, and adopting sweeping, costly, socialistic, big-government programs, all of which could destroy our country.

Democrats often defend the extreme anarchist mobs who can infiltrate and direct youthful protesters to incite violence and destruction. This is a far cry from the moderate, working-class Democratic Party of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

If you are getting most of your news from our mainstream media, you may be being manipulated and lied to.
