Letter to the editor: Media mind control

Tribune-Review

What do The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN and MSNBC have in common? They all play a big role in determining what Americans see, read, think about and ultimately believe. Sprinkle in lesser-known but still large institutions like Slate, The Atlantic, The New Yorker and HuffPost, and you have almost total control of the media. So it doesn’t surprise me that the owners have allowed their anti-Trump and anti-American views to seep into their other businesses.

Amazon — whose CEO is Jeff Bezos, owner of The Washington Post — removed from its Prime Video streaming service a documentary called “Killing Free Speech,” a film about censorship and the threats of freedom of expression posed by antifa. Michael Hansen, the film’s creator, has had his work censored by Amazon before.

In April, Amazon Prime Video removed Mike Cernovich’s documentary about media manipulation called “Hoaxed.”

Amazon also briefly banned a book written by coronavirus skeptic Alex Berenson, reversing that decision when overwhelmed by media pressure.

Whoever controls the information entering the minds of people can control what people perceive as reality. Over time, people will stop accepting media reporting as fact, and then and only then will the knell be heard. The autopsy will list cause of death as being self-inflicted.
