Letter to the editor: Medicare Advantage saves seniors money
For seniors living on a fixed income, access to high-quality, affordable health care is important — especially as inflation continues to push the prices for everyday essentials higher and higher. That’s why I’m thankful to be covered by a Medicare Advantage plan that works for my budget. Like the vast majority of Medicare Advantage beneficiaries, I am quite happy with my plan and have no interest in changing plans anytime soon.
Through Medicare Advantage, I’m able to access services that help me stay healthy and active, like more versatile vision, dental and hearing coverage, as well as unique offerings tailored to the individual needs of patients like me, like meal delivery, in-home help, transportation and fitness programs.
Most importantly, however, is the fact that Medicare Advantage gives me access to all these services while actually saving me money through lower premiums and reduced out-of-pocket costs compared to FFS Medicare. Medicare Advantage helps ensure I’m spending less of my money on health care and more of it on things I can enjoy in retirement. This is so important for someone like me on a fixed budget.
As policymakers in Washington continue to make decisions that will impact Medicare Advantage, I hope our leaders in Congress — including Sens. Bob Casey and John Fetterman as well as Rep. Chris Deluzio — will fight to keep this program strong so seniors like me can continue to access high-quality care at prices we can afford.
