It’s time MLB decides to use either the umpire behind the plate to call balls and strikes or the computerized box that shows balls or strikes. How about that job? The umpire has to make split-second decisions, and everyone watching knows if he just made another bad call.
The other night it cost the Pirates the game. One of our players was called out. But the box clearly showed they were balls, not strikes. He should have been on first base; instead he went to the dugout. The next batter up hit a double, so we should have had second and third men on base. The next batter hit a single and they scored one run, but should have scored two runs.
They need to use one or the other, but not both.
