Delinquent tax lists

Imagine our surprise when we looked at the Highlands School District delinquent tax list and found our names on it. We paid our taxes and even got the discount. In January, we got a delinquent tax notice.

After sending canceled checks, bank statements and receipts to the tax office, we were told it was a mistake and received an apology. I thought that was it until I looked at the list again on April 15, and our names were still on it. We made more phone calls and heard the blame get passed around again. Our names were finally removed on April 18.

This was totally unacceptable. We have always paid our bills. I know to some this wouldn’t be a big deal, but to us it is. I’m sure most people who know us would question our names being on this list. I wonder how many others’ names were put on it in error?

I hope in the future more care is taken when putting people’s names on such a list.
