I thought I had heard every excuse there was to justify President Trump’s actions. There were plenty of them over the past four years given by his enablers and abettors. That is, until I read Eileen Condie’s letter “Democratic ploy to take down Trump?” (Jan. 19, TribLIVE). It left me literally shaking my head.
Would she really have us believe those were not Trump’s haters, thugs and insurrectionists that he had tweeted to come to Washington on Jan. 6? Does she really believe those were Democrats dressed in Trump gear? Oh, right, you can buy MAGA paraphernalia anywhere, so it must be true.
I agree with her in one regard — you can’t take over the government by storming a building, but it’s a mighty big first step. I’m sorry for her if she truly believes it was a Democratic ploy. She is the one who needs to wake up and stop watching Fox News.
