In everyday speech, to quote, “we often use the word equality to refer to much more complicated and, often, controversial subjects.” For example, several amendments to the U.S. Constitution (as well as the original document) legally establish equality of rights for all Americans.
Today, all Americans of any gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, etc. have the right to vote, the right to free speech, the right to bear arms and many other rights. Under the law, Americans have equality in the sense that nobody can be legally denied these rights based on any personal quality.
The so-called Equality Act would cancel some of these rights, such as giving people of faith an ultimatum — change your faith-based practices or face government punishment. It could force parents to allow their sexually confused children to get puberty blockers and hormones or they would lose custody of them; allow biological males to compete in women’s sports; and allow men in women’s facilities.
Perhaps the Equality Act should be called the Non-Equality Act, as there won’t be any choices — do it or you will be punished.
