Letter to the editor: Moving back to Monday hunting opener
I read with great interest the editorial “Lawmakers should pull trigger on hunting bills” (Nov. 28, TribLive), especially the last paragraph. Yes, there are valid reasons for and against moving the first day of hunting back to Monday. At least 75% of the hunters are in favor of moving opening day back to Monday, but for some reason, one state representative has enough power to block and/or delay the move. The main reason was to sell more licenses. It did result in slightly more sales, but the negative effects were by far more meaningful for both the hunters and business people affected by the change to a Saturday opener.
