Letter to the editor: Murrysville council candidate committed to good planning
As mayor of Murrysville, I want to clarify how the comprehensive plan process works and highlight the commitment of Republican Council candidates Jason Lemak, Michael Korns, Loren Kase and Darren Miller to preserving our community’s rural charm.
The comprehensive plan is not something the council can unilaterally impose. It is a community-driven effort, guided by a professional planning consultant and an advisory committee that includes residents. The process involves multiple public meetings where community members can review, comment and shape the plan. Just as a decade ago, the process is open and transparent. When complete, the plan serves as a guide for the next 10 years of Murrysville’s development, reflecting the collective vision of our community. While the finished plan is presented to the council for a vote, it is shaped primarily by community input.
Having worked closely with these candidates on a variety of issues from council to community initiatives, I can attest to their shared commitment to preserving Murrysville’s rural charm while supporting responsible, sustainable development. They are not in favor of rezoning that will result in higher taxes and strained infrastructure or allow high-density housing developments.
They have consistently shared they are dedicated to maintaining our small-town character, protecting the community’s open spaces and ensuring any development growth is thoughtful and balanced — not one of unchecked expansion.
I encourage voters to support Lemak, Korns, Kase and Miller — leaders who will protect Murrysville’s unique character while fostering responsible, transparent governance. Together, we can continue building a future that honors our past and safeguards what makes Murrysville special.
