Letter to the editor: Musk's problems just disappear

Tribune-Review

To date, 10 Starship rockets have failed to meet all their stated objectives (“SpaceX rocket explodes on test stand,” June 20), resulting in a zero success rate and a cost of over $5 billion. Colonizing Mars is Elon Musk’s fantasy dream, a project that scientists say has little chance of succeeding.

Musk has received $22 billion in government contracts, loans, subsidies and tax credits from your tax dollars for SpaceX, excluding the government money he receives for the subsidiary Starlink. We have little to show for it, but Musk has used that funding to create a $350 billion company.

Musk’s handouts do not stop here. He receives additional billions for Tesla, which would not be profitable without carbon offsets.

Then there is Musk himself. Some years, he pays little or no taxes, living off loans backed by his subsidized companies. He is anti-union and pollutes the environment freely. It seems he deceives investors and swindles his business partners. He has capriciously fired thousands of our dedicated civil servants who look after our welfare.

Nine federal agencies were investigating Musk for alleged misconduct. President Trump terminated, harassed and reduced personnel and regulations at those agencies, causing Musk’s problems to disappear. No more troublesome regulations or personnel to interfere with defrauding the American people through collusion, pay-to-play schemes and outright corruption.
