Letter to the editor: Nastiness and lies in politics

Tribune-Review

I am amazed at the amount of nastiness and vindictiveness in politics. The politicians are supposed to work together and compromise and come up with ideas to make America better for the people who elected them. Instead, they just fight with each other over power.

The television media seems to promote division, as well. There were many times when I heard something on TV and looked it up on the internet and saw that the truth was twisted, or someone lied or omitted information. I would call that propaganda. I know you can’t believe everything you read on the internet either, but when you find many legitimate sites reporting the same thing, you can pretty much count on it being true.

We have a difficult task in choosing who we want to represent us in the future. There must be an easier way to separate the lies from the truth. Most people don’t have time to research political candidates, and what sites provide truthful, helpful information?

Another pet peeve I have is all the talk on TV about racial equality, diversity and inclusion. In the old days, our racial inclusion/diversity training consisted of “love one another as God loves you,” “We are all children of God” and “a man should be judged not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.”
