We as a nation are heading in the right direction — but we need to stay on track.

The American Rescue Plan is helping our neighbors in need to stay in their homes, pay their bills and get vaccinated to help bring an end to the pandemic.

According to July surveys, about 6.8 million more people, out of 40 million rental households in the U.S., were behind on rent as compared to before the pandemic, and 20 million adults live in households that do not have enough to eat. In some cases, parents are unable to go back to work because there is no child care available.

The Build Back Better package, which will invest in jobs, begin to rescue our climate and offer a path to citizenship, is the answer we need to continue moving our nation toward recovery. The plan will also help to make housing, child care and health insurance more affordable for our families.

It’s time to tax the wealthy who have for far too long escaped paying their fair share. I voted in 2020 for solutions to the urgent crises we were facing as a nation, and as a community. Let’s get the job done.
