Congress gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a standing ovation.

He has faced calls to resign from 72% of Israelis, including Hamas hostages’ family members, six of whom were arrested protesting the very address Congress applauded. He has faced indictments in Israel for corruption. Just a year ago, Israelis took part in some of the largest street protests in the history of the Middle East to demand he step down.

He has built settlements in the West Bank and has ordered his government to declare their opposition to the two-state solution, in direct opposition to U.S. policy. He has attempted to divide and conquer American policymaking to his own ends.

He has launched a war that has killed tens of thousands of civilians. He has sustained this war in order to delay his long-awaited removal from office by his opponents in Israel. In the process of sustaining that war, he has killed more than 300 international aid workers, including Jacob Flickinger, a young father who served his country in Afghanistan.

He is the subject of arrest warrants filed by the International Criminal Court.

And Congress gave him a standing ovation.

Well, at any rate, it’s good that they finally agree about something.
