Letter to the editor: No justice for sister killed in DUI crash

Tribune-Review

On Aug. 19, 2022, our sister, Helen Ringeisen, was killed in a head-on collision with a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus in Kennedy Township. Her boyfriend, who was driving, blacked out because his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit for driving. He only had minor injuries.

On June 30, 2023, at his last hearing in court, he was sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to homicide by vehicle, DUI and involuntary manslaughter. No jail time. This is a horrible injustice to our sister. She worked in the medical profession and was a very nice and caring person. We miss her so much.
