Tim Benz trying to make sense of the comments regarding Ivan Provorov’s protest on Pride Night in Philadelphia was confusing if not amusing (“I’m not a fan of Ivan Provorov’s Pride Night jersey boycott, but also dislike hypocritical media fallout,” Jan. 20, TribLIVE). The CBC (government owned) is not the NHL Network (privately owned), and comparing Provorov to Kaepernick is not proving hypocrisy.

Benz didn’t hear E.J. Hradek complain about Kaepernick because one works in the NHL and the other worked in the NFL. What’s Benz even talking about? Using Twitter comments as “media” is the real problem. Quoting a bunch of nobodies to prove a point is just bad reporting.

But let me help him with the “rules.” One protest was about the hypocrisy of a nation that is supposed to be founded on inclusivity, and the other protest was against that inclusivity.

One twit’s opinion that someone should leave the country versus another twit’s opinion that another person should leave … that is not hypocrisy. Both are adhering to their own moral standards, and that is the epitome of consistency.

Both are opinions, and the left and right are always consistent in their opinions. No matter how ridiculous they both sound.
