Contrary to a basic conservative principle — local control — Republicans in the Pennsylvania Senate are forcing their way into local governance via their proposed Senate Bill 448.

I urge Sen. Wayne Fontana and his peers to vote “no” on SB 448 and, in so doing, vote “yes” for local control of governance and “yes” to preserve local fiscal decision-making.

Editor’s note: Senate Bill 448 is “An Act amending Titles 18 (Crimes and Offenses) and 53 (Municipalities Generally) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in firearms and other dangerous articles, further providing for limitation on the regulation of firearms and ammunition; and, in preemptions, providing for regulation of firearms and ammunition.”
