I was born and raised on the North Side, but left in 2006 with the Army to come to Hawaii. However, I frequently visit home, and it seems the same problems exist today as they did before I moved.

The people of City Council District 1 must do better in choosing a council member who can effectively run their neighborhoods. We have had failed leadership under the current councilwoman, who is seeking a ridiculous fourth term.

Have your streets been paved? Do salt trucks respond to your streets in a timely manner? Do you see enough police presence in your neighborhood? Has your infrastructure been updated? For the city overall, you need a council member who is going to fight for the best interests of the district and the city.

You are lucky to have several young energetic candidates running for council in 2019. Please, do a bit of research and realize that the future of Pittsburgh and District 1 rests in your hands. To family and friends in Pittsburgh, I say, look for a fresh new face who comes with a passion for the district and is ready to work hard.
