Letter to the editor: Nothing to admire about media

Tribune-Review

Letter-writer Richard Davis states that the Mueller investigation vindicates journalists (“Mueller report vindicates journalists,” May 28, TribLIVE). How so? Where’s the evidence of Russian collusion we’ve been promised for the last two years? Turns out it was all wishful thinking. He also states that the media’s “constant vigilance protects our democracy.” From what I can tell, journalists only protect Democrats.

Yes, the First Amendment guarantees a free press, but that hardly exempts journalists from well-earned criticism when they choose to act as a propaganda arm of the Democratic Party. Mainstream reporters have taken themselves from respectable professionals to word-wielding thugs protecting and defending their liberal bosses. Or they’re simply ideologues pushing their own agenda.

Pundits who clearly state what side they’re on are welcome. Not so the once legitimate news journalists at CBS, NBC, ABC, Washington Post, New York Times, etc. They push the lie that they’re objective and only report the news, but it seems they only report the news that damages Republicans and provides cover for Democrats.

Have you ever heard a mainstream news reporter criticize or question President Obama for anything substantial? Have any of them praised President Trump for any of his successes? And grudgingly acknowledging the great economy by saying that Trump is simply building on Obama’s policies doesn’t count. You can almost hear the glee in their voices when there’s a story they can twist so as to mock Trump.

There is nothing to admire about today’s media. They are no more than simple political operatives pretending not to be.
